Our Summer Librrary Program kicked off on Saturday with a very chilly outdoor Storytime session at the Village Park. The weather may have kept some families away on Saturday, but they've since been making up for lost time, signing up in droves here at the library for our program.
The reading program itself requires kids to satisfy four reading challenges, involving time spent reading and also some other fun activities. As the challenges are completed, the kids are eligible for prizes.
We have more events planned than ever before--drawing classes, picnics, storytellers, musical events, and even a Pet Parade. We have a special Reading Rendezvous group with activities for middle grade kids. And our teen group will also be logging reading time and enjoying special teens-only events--a board game tournament, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Mystery Night, and a "Starbooks" Coffee House lock-in.
This is our second year offering a Summer Reading Program for adults. Adults also will log reading time and enter drawings for great prizes. A special senior division of the adult group will mean improve everyone's chances of winning. And area merchants donors have been very generous: we have lots of great prizes to award.
