Hey, I'm back! I hope all seven of you readers pined away and missed me a lot.
One of my pet peeves is people who dismiss great swaths of our fine country with the term "flyover country". People who say this and mean it only make Exhibit A of their own provincialism, as there is much that is smart and clever to be found in out-of-the-way locales. Just as there is much dreck to be found in Major Centers of Population.
News flash: it's ALL happening everywhere.
And so it follows that I'm pleased to see literary recognition of the midwest. Old Hag, a literary blog that IS smart and clever, gives a mention to the literary life of Milwaukee and environs (and I DO include Chicago as an Environ...). I apologize for getting in a bit late on this one, but I've been preoccupied.
