The model for the doll is a real-life librarian, Nancy Pearl of Seattle, who wrote a wonderful book of reading recommendations called Book Lust. It's a compendium of her choices in every genre--great ideas, all of them.
Ms. Pearl has become a huge advocate for reading, and her ideas make news. She was interviewed on National Public Radio and has released a list of "beyond Harry Potter" ideas for kids and parents. This will keep everyone busy while they await the new Potter book...
Pearl's choices range from new releases of proven classics to new, irreverent and witty fantasy books that cross boundaries of genre and age.
