Wisconsin's own Jacquelyn Mitchard will forever be known as the writer of the very first "Oprah Book". Through that experience, her life was touched by a kind of literary lightning. Formerly known primarily for her lifestyle column seen weekly in a number of state newspapers, she lived through the full range of media lionization, and its fallout, both good and bad. It will be most interesting if she ever decides to write about that experience.
In the meantime, Ms. Mitchard has published a new novel, called Breakdown Lane. Here is an interview released by her publisher.
