Some people think libraries simply store and dispense books. I would offer that libraries are more than books. Gone are the days when libraries were places just for passive recreational reading. Now libraries are active economic development agents and open the doors to people from all walks of life to share ideas, opinions, and values.
What exactly is "Eagle Reads" about? Monday, August 18, from 9am - 8pm will be like an "Open House" for the library. Eagle residents (those who pay thier taxes to the Town of Eagle and Village of Eagle) are invited to show support for the public library by visiting the library and checking out materials or getting a library card. Others are also welcome. Let's see how many transactions we can do in one day! I've never seen more than 1,000 transactions in a day -- let's try to get 1200! There will be prizes given out during the day as well as some special things happening in the library. There may even be treats!
The milkweed from 4 years of Milkweed Pod Throws is drawing in the butterflies at the trail. Photos attached: a great spangled fritillary on milkweed and a monarch on blazing star (one of the top ten nectar plants for butterflies.) Also spotted today was a morning cloak butterfly. We have created habitat!
