It's fun to dip into a variety of genres and the quirky area known as Post-Modern is thought-provoking. It's good to have one's thoughts provoked and one's intellect stretched every once in awhile. Some characteristics of Post-Modern Fiction:
the author is a character
a self-contradictory plot
plays with language
includes fictional artifacts such as letters
includes historical falsehoods
disrupts conventional forms

Thick skin is pretty much a requirement for successful authors bruised
and battered by iffy reviews. It doesn't take too much imagination to see that book signings can be bruising to the author psyche too. And it would probably be a good idea to bring a sweater.
A book signing in the frozen foods section of a supermarket? Bookstore employees who won't believe the author is the author, even when he shows them his picture on his books?
I'm always happy to find a new book blog--new books, new reading ideas, new vantage points. Give this one a look: Devourer of Books. The proprietor of this blog is a young woman, a brand new mom, who still finds time to read widely and talk about it too. If you're into historical fiction you need to check this blog out immediately.
